Mint HODL
Step by Step
- Go to the Mint HODL tab
- Select the token you want to deposit — MOTO or PILL
- Enter the amount you want to deposit
- The interface shows your expected HDL output and the post-deposit vault state
- Click Mint — the transaction is simulated first, then sent to OPWallet for signing
- Approve the transaction in OPWallet
- After confirmation, your HDL balance appears in the header chip
You must first approve the vault to spend your MOTO or PILL. The first time you deposit, the app will prompt for an approval transaction before the deposit. This is a one-time step per token.
Mint Rate
HDL is always minted at a fixed rate of 10 MOTO equivalent = 1 HDL, regardless of current NAV.
| Deposit | Conversion | HDL minted |
|---|---|---|
| 100 MOTO | Direct | 10 HDL |
| 100 PILL | Converted to MOTO-equivalent via MotoSwap price, then ÷ 10 | Depends on current PILL/MOTO price |
After minting, the vault automatically swaps half your deposited token for the other (MOTO ↔ PILL) to maintain the 50/50 balance. This swap happens within the same transaction — you do not need to do it manually.
Transaction Simulation
Before sending any transaction, the HODL frontend runs a simulation against the current chain state. This catches revert reasons early — if your balance is insufficient, the approval is missing, or the vault is in an unexpected state, you will see an error message before OPWallet is even opened.
If a simulation fails, check that you have sufficient MOTO or PILL balance and that the vault approval is in place.
